CALGARY - Dan Spence stopped 25 shots to record his club-record 75th win as the Calgary Hitmen downed the Edmonton Oil Kings 4-1 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night.
Bostjan Golicic and Brett Sonne scored in the first period for the Hitmen (2-0-1) as Spence made nine saves, including three on Edmonton forward Robin Soudek, to keep the Oil Kings (1-2-0) off the scoresheet.
Brett Breitkreuz finally got one past Spence in the second period when his one-timer of a pass from Brenden Dowd found the back of the net.
Brandon Kozun then converted a pass from Sonne for an insurance marker in the third period for the Hitmen, who avenged a 4-3 loss they suffered in Edmonton to the Oil Kings last Saturday night.
Ian Schultz added an empty-net goal, while Keith Seabrook and Chase Schaber each had a pair of assists for Calgary.
Edmonton goalie Dalyn Flette stopped 31 of 35 shots in a losing cause.
