CALGARY - Dan Spence stopped all 19 shots he faces as the Calgary Hitmen blanked the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-0 in WHL action Tuesday night.
Kyle Bortis, MacKenzie Royer, Brandon Kozun and Michale Stone scored for the Hitmen (4-2-0-0), who have won all four games they've played at the Pengrowth Saddledome this season.
Bortis started things off at 1:35 of the second period during a Hitmen power play when he tipped a point shot by Paul Postma past Medicine Hat goalie Ryan Holfeld. The Tigers had killed off all 24 penalties against them this season prior to Bortis's goal.
After Royer scored his first WHL goal, Kozun put the Hitmen up 3-0 with a highlight-real goal with 22.1 seconds left in the middle frame. Kozun gained the Medicine Hat blue-line before he deked around Edmonton defenceman Mark Isherwood and roofed a shot to the short side over Holfield's glove hand.
After Stone put the Hitmen up 4-0 in the third, the Tigers replaced starting netminder Ryan Holfeld in between the pipes with Tyler Bunz. Holfeld had stopped 14 of 19 shots he faced, while Bunz stopped both shots he faced in relief.
