Monday night at the Molson World Hockey Summit, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly admitted that League officials met that day with a contingent from the New Jersey Devils
to discuss the Ilya Kovalchuk
Despite reports to the contrary, no new contract was submitted to the League.
"There was no new contract submitted," Daly said. "We talked conceptually."
According to reports, Devils owner Jeff Vanderbeek, GM Lou Lamoriello and Jay Grossman, Kovalchuk's agent, were in the meeting.
Kovalchuk became a free agent again earlier this month after the 17-year contract he signed with the Devils on July 19 was ruled null and void by an arbiter Richard Bloch.
