Klingberg scores twice to end 3-game skid in overtime

MONTREAL -- John Klingberg scored his second goal of the game with 10 seconds left in overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 4-3 win against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Thursday.

Klingberg, who also had an assist, tied it at 3-3 at 15:14 of the third period before scoring on a shot from the right side for the 4-3 final. It was his 21st game-winning goal, breaking Sergei Zubov's record for the most by a defenseman in Stars/Minnesota North Stars history.
"We've been up and down all year, and to get a comeback like this is huge for the team," Klingberg said. "And it shows that we're sticking with it. Their goalie played really good. We had a lot of chances to start the game. I think throughout the game we had a lot of chances as well, so it's great to see us come through with the two points."

Jamie Benn had a goal and two assists, and Jake Oettinger made 28 saves in his fifth straight start for the Stars (33-23-3), who ended a three-game losing streak.
"That was a [heck] of a hockey game," Dallas coach Rick Bowness said. "[Montreal coach Martin St. Louis has] got them playing. Their speed is very impressive. They're high skill level and they come at you and they make you work. The fans got their money's worth tonight and we found a way to get the two points. What I really like is the way we bounced back after that bad game in Toronto [4-0 loss at the Maple Leafs on Tuesday]. So I'm very happy with that."
Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki each had a goal and an assist for the Canadiens (16-36-9), who have lost four of five (1-2-2). Jake Allen made 31 saves in his first start since he sustained a lower-body injury Jan. 12.
"I was very impressed with Jake tonight, how he calmed us down and kept us in the game in the first period," St. Louis said.
The Canadiens tied the game twice before taking a 3-2 lead on Corey Schueneman's first NHL goal at 12:47 of the third, a slap shot from the point. It was his 11th NHL game.
"I had all sorts of time and I pretty much only had one thing on my mind, and that was shooting, getting it through," Schueneman said. "So I found a lane and luckily it hit the back of the net."

Allen made several strong saves early before Radek Faksa gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 18:33 of the first period. It was his first goal since Nov. 13 (41 games).
"I wanted to try to keep things as simple as I could tonight and stay in my blue paint and sort of let the game come to me and build," Allen said. "I didn't expect to be perfect the first game, but hopefully I can build as this stretch goes on here."
Faksa's shot from the left side of the net off a backhand pass from Michael Raffl went in off Allen's right pad.
"I saw [Raffl] getting the puck to the net and I was just waiting on the first post, so I was just hoping that he would see me there," Faksa said. "It was a tough angle, but I pretty much had an open net."
Caufield tied it at 1-1 at 9:36 of the second period, seven seconds into a power play. It was his fourth goal in three games.
Benn put Dallas ahead 2-1 at 15:51 when he scored from the right side of the goal line on a rebound off the end boards after Esa Lindell's shot from the slot went wide of the left post.
Suzuki tied it 2-2 at 8:52 of the third off a pass from Caufield.
