Perry suspended five games for elbowing

NEW YORK- Dallas Stars forward Corey Perry has been suspended for five games, without pay, for elbowing Nashville Predators defenseman Ryan Ellis during NHL Game No. 626 at Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas on Wednesday, Jan. 1, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 2:40 of the first period. Perry received a major penalty and game misconduct for elbowing.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Perry will forfeit $40,322.60. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
