In his 14th NHL season, Hamhuis, 35, has now appeared in 128 games in his second season for Dallas, 389 games in six seasons with Vancouver, and 483 games in six seasons in Nashville. He has recorded 334 career regular-season points (57-277=334) going in to tonight's contest. During his time, his teams have posted a record of 532-354-113 with him in the lineup.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Smithers, British Columbia was originally selected by Nashville in the first round (12th overall) of the 2001 NHL Draft. He becomes the first player chosen in the 2001 NHL Draft to reach the 1,000-games played plateau and only the third defenseman chosen since the 2000 NHL Draft to play in 1,000 games joining Nick Schultz (selected in 2000) and Jay Bouwmeester (selected in 2002).

In addition to his 1,000 NHL career regular-season games played, Hamhuis has appeared in 62 postseason contests, registering 21 points (3-18=21). He was part of Vancouver's run to the Stanley Cup Final against Boston in 2011, finishing that postseason with six points (1-5=6) and a +5 plus/minus rating in 19 games played.
Internationally, Hamhuis has represented Canada nine times, including the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, six World Championship teams (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2015) and two World Junior Championships (2001, 2002). He won gold at the 2014 Olympics and twice at the World Championships (2007, 2015).
