Daily Primer Nov. 28: Turkey and hockey @NHLdotcom

It's Thanksgiving in the United States, but three Canadian teams and the Nashville Predators will take the ice Thursday night.

The Vancouver Canucks begin a four-game road trip against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre (7:30 p.m. ET, NHLN-US, RDS, SNET-VAN, SNET-OTT).

Ottawa returns home from a three-game road trip that saw it secure two victories, including a 6-4 win against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.

"Tomorrow's an opportunity for us to come home, play a very good team in the Vancouver Canucks, and we're going to have to be ready to play," Senators coach Paul MacLean said. "We need to come out and play hard."

Here's a closer look at the action in the NHL on Thursday:

Vancouver Canucks at Ottawa Senators-- The Canucks continue to struggle offensively; they've scored two goals or fewer in seven of their past eight games, a slump that has resulted in one victory. What makes it more disappointing is that Vancouver wrapped up a six-game homestand Monday, when it lost 3-2 in overtime to the Los Angeles Kings. Ottawa rallied from a 3-1 deficit and scored three power-play goals to beat the Capitals at Verizon Center on Wednesday. Zack Smith broke a 4-4 tie with 2:23 remaining in regulation.

Edmonton Oilers at Nashville Predators-- Edmonton saw its three-game winning streak come to an end in a 5-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks at Rexall Place on Monday. The Oilers were trailing 4-0 by the time Justin Schultz scored their lone goal 8:08 into the second period. Edmonton begins a three-game road trip against the Predators, who will be seeking their third straight win. Rookie goalie Marek Mazanec made 19 saves to earn his second shutout in a 4-0 victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Wednesday.
