DraftKings Daily NHL Picks for Monday

The NHL Tonight crew makes its picks for top DraftKings players for Monday including Matt Stajan, Patrick Sharp and Sam Reinhart

  • 01:09 •

Each day this season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. This list of targets includes expensive and value options at each position to help you build a winning roster.

C - Eric Staal, MIN ($6,000)

Staal has seen a resurgence in his career this season with the Minnesota Wild and has five goals, 13 points and a plus-6 rating in 17 games. Staal had 13 goals and 39 points last season with the Carolina Hurricanes and New York Rangers, his lowest totals since his rookie season (2003-04). Staal doesn't have a point in his past three games but is averaging 3.5 DraftKings points per contest and will face the Dallas Stars, who have allowed the second most goals in the League (64; 3.37 per game).

C - Adam Henrique, NJD ($4,200)

Henrique has picked up the slack with wings Mike Cammalleri and Taylor Hall out for the New Jersey Devils, scoring a goal and three assists in the past four games. He even had three blocks two games ago, something he's not known for. Henrique is averaging less than 3.0 DraftKings points per contest (2.4) but plays in all situations and figures to help the Devils against the San Jose Sharks.

W - James Neal, NSH ($6,300)

The Nashville Predators right wing had his six-game goal streak end Saturday when he was scoreless in a 3-1 loss to the St. Louis Blues, but he has eight goals and 11 points in his past 10 games. Neal has at least 21 goals in each of his first eight NHL seasons and had 31 in 2015-16. He is averaging 4.1 DraftKings points per contest and has gotten at last 4.0 points in eight of his past 10 games. Neal should bounce back against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

W - Patrick Eaves, DAL ($5,800)

Eaves comes into the game as one of the hottest skaters in the League, with at least a goal in five straight games and eight goals in 10 games. The Stars wing has benefitted from playing on the top line with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin and has 15 points, including five power-play goals and eight power-play points this season. He has at least 4.5 DraftKings points in each of his past five games and is a mid-tier option (ranked 17th in price among wings but tied for 10th in points per game) against the Wild.

D - Julius Honka, DAL ($2,500)

Honka has a lot of things going for him, the first being his price is the cheapest it can be in DraftKings contests. The second is that he'll likely be in the lineup to replace defenseman Johnny Oduya, who was placed on injured reserve Sunday. Honka and defenseman Esa Lindell were recalled from Texas of the American Hockey League on Sunday. Honka has three goals and 12 points in 16 AHL games which ranks tied for fourth in points among defensemen. The 20-year-old has yet to make his highly-anticipated NHL debut, but if it comes Monday, he could be one of the biggest bargains of the day, also saving you precious dollars to use elsewhere.

D - Brent Seabrook, CHI ($5,100)

The Chicago Blackhawks defenseman has two goals and 11 points in 19 games (3.0 DraftKings points per contest). Even though he only has a point in his past five games, Seabrook has nine shots and 11 blocks in four games, helping his value. Seabrook has 31 blocks and 34 SOG this season, including four power-play points. He's a minutes-eating machine and the Blackhawks, who have one of the best offenses in the League will face the struggling Edmonton Oilers defense, which has allowed at least three goals in eight of their past 10 games.

G - Robin Lehner, BUF ($7,400)

Lehner has lost three straight games, allowing 11 goals, but should get a reprieve against the Calgary Flames, who have scored 13 regulation goals in their past 10 games. The Buffalo Sabres allow a lot of SOG, so even if he allows a few goals, Lehner likely will benefit scoring-wise from 30-plus shots on net. He's averaging 4.1 DraftKings points per contest and if backup Anders Nilsson makes his second straight start instead, choose him. Nilsson ($7,300) is 2-1-2 with a 1.74 GAA and .951 SV% and is coming off a 46-save, 2-1 shootout win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday and has allowed three goals in his past three games.

G - Sergei Bobrovsky, CBJ ($7,900)

Bobrovsky has shown no signs of slowing down this season. The Columbus Blue Jackets goalie made 19 saves in a 2-1 win against the Washington Capitals on Sunday and has won four straight games. He's 10-4-1 with a 2.19 GAA, .931 SV% and three shutouts and has allowed two goals or fewer in 11 of his 15 starts. His opponent, the Colorado Avalanche, have been shut out four times in 17 games this season and have scored two or fewer regulation goals in 11 games.
