DraftKings Daily NHL Picks for Thursday

The NHL Tonight crew makes its picks for top DraftKings players for Thursday night including Joel Ward and Patrik Berglund

  • 01:06 •

Each day this season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. This lineup has been constructed with expensive and value picks and should be used as a basis for your roster decision-making.

C - Mark Scheifele, WPG ($6,200)

Scheifele has 14 points in his past 10 games and hasn't missed a beat alongside Blake Wheeler instead of usual linemates Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers. Scheifele and the Winnipeg Jets visit the Dallas Stars; Scheifele has three goals, three assists, two blocks and nine shots on goal in three games against them this season (6.8 DraftKings points per game). He has 27 points in 26 road games.

C - Jason Spezza, DAL ($5,200)

Spezza has 22 points and 70 SOG in 26 home games. Ten of his 15 power-play points have come at American Airlines Center, and his price remains affordable despite a recent scoring surge. He has a three-game point streak with at least 4.5 DraftKings points in each and is in his usual spot on the first power-play unit with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin against Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec, who has allowed 16 goals in five games.

W - Alexander Radulov, MTL ($5,700)

Radulov has three multipoint games in his past five, giving him 39 points in 49 games. He has eight points in his past 10 games with five on the Montreal Canadiens' first power-play unit. He plays alongside Max Pacioretty in all situations and has scored four points in two games against the Philadelphia Flyers.

W - Mike Hoffman, OTT ($5,700)

Hoffman is a high-floor daily fantasy option with 10 points and 29 SOG in his past 10 games for the Ottawa Senators. He has at least 2.0 DraftKings points in eight of his past nine games and is a fixture on the first power-play unit (tied for their lead in PPP, 15). He has 16 points in 20 games when on one day of rest, as he will be against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

W - Patrick Marleau, SJS ($5,000)

Marleau is on milestone alert at the Vancouver Canucks with 499 NHL goals. He has 10 road goals this season, second on the San Jose Sharks behind Brent Burns (13). Marleau has six goals, one assist, two blocks and 18 SOG in his past four games.

D - Duncan Keith, CHI ($5,200)

It's obvious Keith has point potential against the Arizona Coyotes, who are allowing the fifth-most DraftKings points to opposing defensemen. In addition to having 25 points (11 PPP) in 40 regular-season games for the Chicago Blackhawks against the Coyotes, Keith brings category coverage. He has three straight games of at least three blocks and three SOG with two goals in the span.

D - Andrei Markov, MTL ($4,000)

Markov returned to the Montreal lineup against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday after a 19-game injury absence and had one assist and one block in 17:43. He has two points in two games this season and 31 points in 41 games against the Flyers. His low price remains unchanged, and he ranks sixth among defensemen in points per game (0.69).

G - Martin Jones, SJS ($8,100)

Jones, 26-15-2, is averaging 4.3 DraftKings points per game and has a favorable road draw against the Canucks. He's 2-1-0 with a .924 save percentage against them and has allowed two goals or fewer in five of his past six games. If Sharks backup Aaron Dell starts instead, he's $200 cheaper and has six wins in eight decisions with a .930 SV% and one shutout. Be sure to check NHL.com's running list of projected goalie starters.

UTIL - Kyle Okposo, BUF ($4,900)

Plenty of Buffalo skaters, including Okposo (two assists, one block, six SOG in two games), have had strong games against the New York Rangers this season. He should have low daily fantasy ownership at home and is in a good spot on the second line with Ryan O'Reilly and Tyler Ennis and first power-play unit with Jack Eichel. Okposo is tied for the Sabres lead with 17 PPP.
