Czechs beat Canada West 5-2 at world under-17 hockey challenge

SYDNEY, N.S. - David Kase had two goals and Daniel Vladar made 32 saves to lead the Czech Republic to a 5-2 win over Canada's West team at the world under-17 hockey challenge Tuesday.

Daniel Krenzelok, Filip Chlapik and Filip Dvorak also scored for the Czechs, who improved to 2-1-0-0, while Simon Stransky added two assists.

Jayden Halbgewachs of Emerald Park, Sask., and Winnipeg's Keegan Kolesar scored for the West (0-2-0-0). Tyson Verhelst made 13 saves.

Russia 7, Germany 2

Artur Tyanulin scored twice and added two assists to lead Russia to a 7-2 win over Germany.

Denis Alekseev, Denis Tsukanov, Ivan Emets, Denis Gurianov and Dmitry Zhukenov also scored for Russia. Zhukenov also added a pair of assists while Nikita Kolesnikov made 26 saves.

Philipp Halbauer and Lois Spitzner scored for the Germans, who got 36 saves from Cody Brenner.

Russia improved to 1-1-0-0 at the tournament while Germany fell to 0-3-0-0.
