It took more than two periods, but Sidney Crosby extended his points streak to 18 games with an assist in the Pittsburgh Penguins' game at Buffalo on Saturday.

Crosby earned an assist on Alex Goligoski's goal at 12:09 of the third period, which gave the Penguins a 3-1 lead. Pittsburgh won the game 5-2, extending its winning streak to 12 games.

Crosby has 36 points -- 20 goals and 16 assists -- during the streak. It's the second-longest of his career, one behind his 19-game streak in October and November 2007. He had 30 points during that streak.
