KENNEWICK, Wash. - Craig McCallum scored the game winner with 5:42 remaining in the third period to give the Edmonton Oil Kings a 3-2 victory over the Tri-City Americans in WHL action.
Brett Breitkreuz and Robin Soudek also scored for Edmonton (25-30-2-4), which moved into an eighth-place tie with Prince Albert in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Tyler Schmidt had a goal and an assist for the Americans (38-16-0-3), who saw their lead over Spokane shrink to four points in the U.S. Division pennant race.
Kruise Reddick also scored for Tri-City, which got 24 saves from Chet Pickard who remained at 99 career wins.
Cam Lanigan finished with 25 saves for Edmonton.
