Craig Duininck scores in overtime as Windsor Spitfires edge Plymouth Whalers 4-3

WINDSOR, Ont. - Craig Duininck scored in overtime and Jack Campbell made 37 saves as the Windsor Spitfires defeated the Plymouth Whalers 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

A wide-open first period saw five goals scored between both teams.

Brady Vail, with his first of the game, and Kerby Rychel scored for the Spitfires (6-3-1).

Alex Aleardi, Dario Trutmann and Austin Levi replied for the Whalers (3-4-1) in the first period. A video review showed that Levi poked the puck past Campbell short handed with two-tenths of a second remaining in the period.

Plymouth outshot Windsor 15-6 in the opening period.

Vail scored his second goal of the game with just over two minutes remaining in the second period to tie the game and eventually send it to extra time.

Rychel's score was his eighth goal and 13th point of the season, equalling his point total from his rookie campaign last season.

Scott Wedgewood made 25 while taking the loss in goal for the Whalers.

With the victory the Spitfires moved into sole possession of first place in the OHL's West Division.
