Coyotes' Torres suspended two games @NHLdotcom

Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres was suspended without pay for two games after charging Minnesota Wild defenseman Nate Prosser during Saturday's game at the Xcel Energy Center, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced Monday night.

Torres, who will forfeit $42,682.93, is classified as a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Accordingly and forfeits his salary based on the number of games in the season (82), rather than the number of days (185). The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 7:57 of the first period. No penalty was assessed on the play.

Torres will miss Tuesday's game at St. Louis and Thursday's match at Los Angeles. He will be eligible to return Saturday night against the New York Islanders.
