Coyotes team scope

Arizona, coming off a 4-3 overtime win in its home opener against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, start a six-game road trip. "This is going to be a good test for our team," coach Dave Tippett said Tuesday. "With as many young players [and] as many new players, it's going to be a good test for us. We're going to go into some buildings where we're not going to have time to be young and inexperienced. We're going to have to dig right in." Tippett said there is a good chance rookie Dylan Strome, the third pick of the 2015 NHL draft, will play after he was a healthy scratch in the opener. Christian Dvorak could come out if he does. Goaltender Mike Smith, 5-5-1 in 11 career games against Ottawa, is expected to start.

Senators team scope

Ottawa is trying to rebound from a 5-1 loss at the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. Thomas Chabot, the 18th pick of the 2015 draft, will play his first NHL game after being a healthy scratch for the Senators' first three games. "It's something special, for sure, for me and my family," Chabot said. "Since I'm probably 5 years old I'm saying I want to play in the NHL one day and tonight I have the chance to actually play my first game. So it's something real special for me." One of the priorities for coach Guy Boucher in his first season has been the power play, which was 26th in the NHL in 2015-16. But the Senators are 0-for-9 to start the season. Boucher said the problem is not enough bodies in front of the net.
