Coyotes may be without Doan again vs. Hurricanes @NHLdotcom

COYOTES (13-12-1) at HURRICANES (9-13-4)

Season series: The Carolina Hurricanes won two games against the Arizona Coyotes in 2014-15. Elias Lindholm scored in a 3-0 home win on Nov. 1, 2014, then had the shootout winner in a 2-1 victory at Arizona on Feb. 5. The Hurricanes visit the Coyotes on Saturday.

Coyotes team scope: It's the fourth of a five-game road trip for Arizona, which has been outscored 15-5 and lost the first three, all in regulation. The Coyotes did not practice Saturday following a 5-2 loss at the Buffalo Sabres on Friday. Captain Shane Doan missed his sixth straight game because of a lower-body injury; it is unknown if he'll be able to return against the Hurricanes. "I think any time you can get a player, a good player back in your lineup, it helps you -- especially your captain and your leader," coach Dave Tippett told The Arizona Republic. "It helps, but we're not going to put him in there just for the sake of putting him in. He's gotta be healthy."

Hurricanes team scope: Carolina is wrapping up a three-game homestand and will play its second game in as many nights following a 3-2 win against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday. "You've got to follow it up," captain Eric Staal said. "It doesn't mean nothing if you don't follow it up [Sunday]. We've got to continue to build, continue to get better and continue the good feeling because there's a lot more fun." Coach Bill Peters did not rule out lineup changes, but he did confirm after the game that goalie Cam Ward will start again Sunday. Ward made 36 saves in the win against the Canadiens.
