Forward Antoine Vermette's contract was bought out by the Arizona Coyotes on Monday.
Vermette, 34, is now an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team. He had one year remaining with a $3,750,000 NHL salary-cap charge on a two-year contract, according to General Fanager.

Vermette had 17 goals and 21 assists in 76 games with the Coyotes last season. He played 63 games for Arizona in 2014-15 before he was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks prior to the 2015 NHL Trade Deadline. He signed a contract to return to the Coyotes on July 1, 2015.
"In order to give our team more flexibility, we needed to make this difficult decision," Arizona general manager John Chayka said. "This move will provide an opportunity for some of our young, talented players to step up. Antoine is a class act and we thank him for all he did on and off the ice for the Arizona Coyotes organization. We wish him the best in the future."
Vermette has 211 goals, 260 assists and 546 penalty minutes in 910 NHL games. He won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2015.
