The Arizona Coyotes assigned forward Dylan Strome to Erie of the Ontario Hockey League on Sunday.
"He had an excellent camp and opened a lot of eyes ... but his body needs to get stronger," coach Dave Tippett said in comments tweeted by the Coyotes. "He understands that."
Strome, the third pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, won the OHL scoring title last season with 126 points (45 goals, 84 points) in 68 games. He had 10 goals and 22 points in 20 playoff games to lead Erie to the OHL Final, where it lost to Oshawa.
The Coyotes roster is at 23 players.
