Arizona Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have added Ron Rolston and Jim Roque to the team’s pro scouting staff.
“We are pleased to add Ron and Jim to our professional scouting department,” said Maloney. “Both Ron and Jim have tremendous hockey knowledge and will be great additions to our organization.”
Rolston joins the Coyotes after most recently serving as head coach of the Buffalo Sabres for parts of the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. He was named the 16th head coach in franchise history on May 7, 2013 after guiding the Sabres to a 15-11-5 record in 31 games as interim head coach in 2012-13. Prior to joining the Sabres in February 2013, he was the head coach of the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). In his two seasons as coach of the Americans, Rolston compiled a 63-44-17 regular-season record.
The Fenton, Michigan native previously spent seven seasons as head coach with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, where he became the first coach in U.S. history to lead the United States Under-18 team to three gold medals (2005, 2009, 2011) at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Under-18 Championship.
