OTTAWA - Corey Cowick had two goals and an assist Sunday afternoon and linemate Anthony Nigro chipped in three assists as the Ottawa 67's downed the Peterborough Petes 5-2 in Ontario Hockey League play Sunday afternoon.
Shane Prince, Andrew Merrett and Tyler Toffoli, into an empty net, also scored for the 67's (31-22-7), while Petr Mrazek made 22 saves.
The Petes (25-31-4) got goals from Matt Puempel and Liam Heelis and a 30-save performance from Jason Missiaen.
"It was a playoff-style game. They scratched and clawed for sixty minutes but our guys did a good job of not giving them much and capitalizing on our chances," said 67's coach Chris Byrne.
After a scoreless first period the 67's took a 2-1 lead into the second intermission and had full control in the third.
Ottawa finished 1-for-7 on the power play while the Petes, who had only one shot on goal in the first period, finished 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
