Cowick leads Sens past Pens

by Erin Nicks
OSHAWA, Ontario – Carried on the back of Corey Cowick, the Ottawa Senators easily dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 in Saturday’s first game at the Oshawa rookie Tournament.

Cowick had two goals and an assist for the Sens. Cowick’s linemate, Derek Grant, also found the back of the net midway through the first period, while Andre Petersson helped put it away for Ottawa late in the third.

"I thought Corey played very well," Sens coach Kurt Kleinendorst said. "In fact, I would say that in the year now that I’ve spent with him, that’s about as good as I’ve seen him play. We put an ‘A’ on him for a reason. "

Nick Petersen and Ben Street were the standouts for the Penguins, but both were unable to solve Ottawa goaltender Robin Lehner.
