WINNIPEG - Cory Schneider made 17 saves for his third shutout of the season and Guillaume Desbiens had three assists Monday as the Manitoba Moose blanked the Lake Erie Monsters 5-0 in American Hockey League action.
Josh Soares and Mike Keane each had a goal and an assist for Manitoba, while Jason Krog, Greg Rallo and Nolan Baumgartner and scored for the Moose.
Krog opened the scoring on the power play after taking a feed from Soares to beat Monsters goalie Tyler Weiman at 3:24 of the first period.
The Moose (33-14-0-3) doubled the lead two minutes later when Rallo scored his first of the season from Desbiens and Keane.
Manitoba scored 41 seconds into the second as Soares, playing in first game with the Moose, scored his ninth of the year.
Baumgartner stretched the lead to four over the Monsters (19-23-1-5) with a short-handed goal at 4:10 of the second.
Keane made the 5-0 with just under eight minutes left in the second, squeezing the puck past Weiman, who made just 16 saves in the loss.
Jason Bacashihua replaced Weiman in the Monsters' net after Keane's goal and finished with 13 saves.
Manitoba was 1-5 on the power play, while Lake Erie went 0-5.
