Andrew Copp signed a one-year, $3.64 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

The 27-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Aug. 26.
"I would have liked to maybe get a few more years, but I got a good contract. I'm happy with it," Copp said. "I'm happy with the improvements that the team made in the offseason. Obviously, a few key losses, but a few key additions as well and we think that we're a team that can go all the way this year. So, I'm really excited to be back and really excited to see what kind of team we've got moving forward here."
The Jets acquired defensemen Nate Schmidt (Vancouver Canucks) and Brenden Dillon (Washington Capitals) in separate trades last month. They also agreed to a one-year, $3.75 million contract with center Paul Stastny on July 26.
Copp set NHL career-highs in goals (15), assists (24) and points (39) in 55 games for the Jets last season, and had two assists in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by Winnipeg in the fourth round (No. 104) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Copp has scored 149 points (61 goals, 88 assists) in 411 regular-season games and 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 34 playoff games.
The Jets signed defenseman
Neal Pionk
to a four-year, $23.5 million contract ($5.875 million average annual value) on Wednesday. Pionk had an arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday.
