SASKATOON - Connor McDavid had an assist and often looked dangerous as the Edmonton Oilers downed the Minnesota Wild 3-0 in NHL exhibition action on Saturday at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.
The 18-year-old centre played in his second pre-season outing and he has three assists in those appearances. The first overall pick in June's NHL Entry Draft made a number of impressive passing plays and had a couple of breakaways.
Anton Slepyshev, Oscar Klefbom and Rob Klinkhammer scored for the Oilers before 7,541 spectators.
Saskatoon product Darcy Kuemper stopped 27 of 29 shots in goal for the Wild. Anders Nilsson made 25 stops in the Oilers net.
Wild centre Erik Haula scored in a practice three-on-three overtime session that followed the game.
The Wild return to action on Sunday, when they host the Winnipeg Jets. The Oilers are off until Tuesday, when they host the Arizona Coyotes.
