McDavid

Playing outdoors in the 2016 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic is going to be a new experience for Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid, and not just at the pro level.

McDavid had dreams of an outdoor rink in the backyard of his childhood home, but it was not meant to be.
The McDavid family was deciding what to do with their outdoor space when Connor was a child and there were a few options, including a pool, but when the ruling was made, it did not come down on the side of the rink.
"My dad wanted a deck and a hot tub and that's what we got," McDavid told NHL Network in a pregame interview before Sunday's game at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg. "We gave up the rink for the deck."
Nevertheless, the Oilers young star made his peace with the family decision.
"Now I think we like that a little bit better, using the hot tub," McDavid said.
