BUFFALO, N.Y. - Tim Connolly broke a third-period tie, and Derek Roy and Dmitri Kalinin had a goal and an assist each to lift the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday night in the pre-season finale for both teams.

Connolly scored the winner with just under six minutes left, knocking a rebound past goalie Marc-Andre Fleury after Fleury stopped Kalinin's shot from the left circle.

Jason Pominville also scored for the Sabres (4-2).

Maxime Talbot and Colby Armstrong each had a goal and an assist, and Sergei Gonchar also scored for the Penguins (1-3-2).

Roy entered with a NHL-leading 11 pre-season points, and finished with 12 points in his last three pre-season games.

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller made 14 saves.

The Penguins held out Sidney Crosby, who closed the pre-season with seven points in three games. Mark Recchi, Petr Sykora and Gary Roberts also sat out.

Connolly and Kalinin, who have been bothered by groin injuries, both played in the pre-season for the first time.
