NEWARK, N.J. -- Devils rookie Adam Henrique knows this feeling of crawling back into a series after falling into a 0-3 hole. He savored it two years ago in the OHL playoffs when he was playing for the Windsor Spitfires against the Kitchener Rangers.
Kitchener went up 3-0, but Henrique, Taylor Hall, Cam Fowler and Co. won the next four games and eventually went on to win the Memorial Cup.
Henrique said the vibe he got from his teammates after they won Game 5 two years ago was similar to the vibe he was getting after the Devils won Game 5 against the Kings on Saturday.
"The guys there knew we could do it," Henrique said. "Some people wrote us off like they have here, but it doesn't matter what people outside here think. We believe in each other and we know we can make the comeback."
If the Devils make the comeback and win the Cup, they will also make history. Only one team, the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, has rallied from an 0-3 hole in the Stanley Cup Final to win the series with four straight victories.
"Guys in here are willing to do whatever it takes to win," Henrique said. "We'll head out on the road (Sunday), and it's a new day. We're alive for another day. Nobody is going to give an inch."
