Combs scores game winner as Saginaw storms back to beat Sarnia 5-4 @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - Jack Combs scored the game winner with 1:03 left in regulation as the Saginaw Spirit rallied for a 5-4 win over the Sarnia Sting on Saturday night in the Ontario Hockey League.

Combs' winner came 31 seconds after Ryan McDonough had tied the game for the Spirit.

Nigel Williams, Tomas Zaborsky and Patrick Asselin also scored for Saginaw (1-1-0), and the Spirit defence excelled by keeping Sarnia sniper Steve Stamkos off the scoresheet.

Justin DiBenedetto scored a pair of goals for the Sting (1-1-0), while Colt Kennedy, Steve Ferry and Ryan Wilson had two assists each.

Sarnia was 2-for-3 on the power play while Saginaw went 0-for-5.

Ryan Daniels fresh off his return from Ottawa Senators training camp, stopped 28 shots in the win.

Kari Karhunen had 35 saves for Sarnia.
