Blue Jackets team scope

The Columbus Blue Jackets have gone 2-0-1 in their past three games, but coach John Tortorella said he will shuffle his bottom three lines in hopes of generating more offense. Left wing Boone Jenner will move from the fourth line to the second. Left wing Matt Calvert will drop from the second to the third line, bumping Scott Hartnell to the fourth. Jenner scored a career-high 30 goals last season but has yet to score a goal this season. "I don't think we've developed enough offense," Tortorella said after the Blue Jackets' morning skate at SAP Center. "Not just [Jenner], but our lines. ... I've got to be concerned about lack of offensive opportunities. So we moved a few people around and see where we go." Jenner said the move could help him. "Obviously [I] set a standard for myself," he said. "I just went to keep getting better every year. I think that will come with the way I'm playing. If I'm playing the right way and doing the right things, there's no doubt that stuff's going to come." Columbus lost its first two games of the season including a 3-2 loss to San Jose on Oct. 15 at Nationwide Arena. Since then, they have two regulation wins and a 3-2 overtime loss Tuesday to the Los Angeles Kings at Staples Center.

Sharks team scope

After shuffling all four forward lines, San Jose Sharks coach Peter DeBoer liked the way they played Tuesday in a 2-1 overtime victory against the Anaheim Ducks, and will stick with them against the Blue Jackets. Left wing Mikkel Boedker will skate on the top line with center Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski and Tomas Hertl will center the third line between Patrick Marleau and Melker Karlsson. Right wing Joel Ward will remain on the second line with center Logan Couture and Joonas Donskoi. "I liked all our lines," DeBoer said. "I liked the ability to roll four lines, the feeling we got. I think they all carried momentum when they got out there and had positive impacts on the game. So that's what we're looking for and that's why no lineup changes." The new-look fourth line of center Chris Tierney, Tommy Wingels and Micheal Haley combined for six shots-on-goal against Anaheim. "I think everyone showed up and played hard," Pavelski said. "Whether it changes a little chemistry on lines or not, it wakes everybody up. Everybody understands they need to be a little better. You show up and compete, it takes care of a lot of other things."
