Blue Jackets team scope

Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will start for the Columbus Blue Jackets, who can pull even with the Washington Capitals for first place in the Metropolitan Division and the NHL standings with a victory at Canadian Tire Centre. Korpisalo has a 1-1-0 record and a 2.54 goals-against average in two games since being recalled from Cleveland of the American Hockey League. He was 16-12-4 with a 2.60 GAA for Columbus last season. This is the first of five consecutive road games for the Blue Jackets, including three before the All-Star break. Columbus is 4-5-0 since its 16-game winning streak after defeating the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 at Nationwide Arena on Saturday. One of those losses came Thursday, when the Ottawa Senators won 2-0 at Columbus. The Blue Jackets are 13-5-3 on the road and have outscored their opponents 60-49. Columbus will be completing its 11th of 19 back-to-back games: The Blue Jackets are 9-2-0 in the first game and 5-2-3 in the second. They have the top NHL's power play at 24.3 percent, but they are ninth on the road at 21.5 percent.

Senators team scope

The Senators concluded a 3-0-0 road trip with a 3-2 shootout win at the Toronto Maple Leafs ion Saturday. Forward Tom Pyatt scored the deciding goal against the Maple Leafs on the first shootout attempt of his 289-game NHL career. Ottawa is 5-1-0 in its past six games after losing four in a row. The Senators have points in eight of their past 10 home games (5-2-3). Goaltender Mike Condon will make his 13th consecutive start; he is 7-4-1 in the past 12 games, including the victory at Columbus on Thursday. The Senators will face a team playing the second game of a back-to-back situation for the fifth home game in a row. Center Kyle Turris will play his 500th game.
