COL@ANA: Landeskog deflects MacKinnon's shot for PPG

ANAHEIM -- Jonas Johansson made 24 saves for the Colorado Avalanche in a 4-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Sunday.

Johansson made 28 saves in a 2-0 win against the Ducks on Friday for his first NHL shutout.
"I've been fighting for quite a few years to get to this point," Johansson said. "It's a good feeling, but we've got more work to do."
Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and two assists to reach 500 NHL points (214 goals, 286 assists), and Nathan MacKinnon had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche (28-9-4), who have won seven of eight and have a point in 17 of their past 18 games (15-1-2).
"We're trying to stack up points going toward the end of the year," Avalanche defenseman Ryan Graves said. "Just keep putting room between us and other teams leading into the playoffs to give ourselves the best chance."

COL@ANA: Burakovsky fires puck past Gibson for goal

Jamie Drysdale scored, and John Gibson made 33 saves for the Ducks (12-23-7), who are 1-4-1 in their past six games.
"We played hard, it's not for lack of trying," Ducks defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk said. "[The Avalanche] are a team that's going to generate scoring chances on a nightly basis with the skill and talent that they have, but I thought we had some pretty good chances of our own."
Johansson made his fourth start (3-0-1) for Colorado since he was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres on March 20 for a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
"He's been on the ice every day working with guys, so it's good to see him get some success," Graves said of Johansson.
Drysdale scored on a slap shot at 12:37 of the third period to make it 2-1 and prevent Johansson from becoming the first goalie to record his first two NHL shutouts in consecutive games since Elvis Merzlikins of the Columbus Blue Jackets in January 2020.
It was the second goal of the season for Drysdale, the sixth pick in the 2020 NHL Draft who turned 19 on Thursday.
"He continues to get better, and he has earned every minute of [playing time]," Ducks coach Dallas Eakins said. "He has played well right from the start, and he's a quick learner."
The Avalanche re-established the two-goal lead 36 seconds after Drysdale scored. Graves took a shot that banked off the leg of Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf and into the net to make it 3-1 at 14:13.
MacKinnon redirected a pass from in close to make it 4-1 at 16:54.

COL@ANA: Landeskog sets mark on MacKinnon's goal

After Johansson made back-to-back saves on Max Jones to thwart a 2-on-1 break in the first period, the Avalanche took their first lead 21 seconds later.
Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler had possession of the puck in front of his crease, but Andre Burakovsky poked it away and then scored from the inside edge of the left circle for a 1-0 lead at 7:46 of the first.
The Avalanche went on a 5-on-3 after Nicolas Deslauriers and Jones were called for minor penalties 58 seconds apart.
Colorado scored with 10 seconds left on the two-man advantage when Landeskog tipped in MacKinnon's slap shot from the high slot to make it 2-0 at 6:35 of the second period.
It was the first 5-on-3 goal of the season for Colorado.
"We gave them a few too many good scoring chances from the slot," Shattenkirk said. "I thought after that, the second period was a bit funky trying to find our game with a lot of penalties."
Colorado coach Jared Bednar said he planned to start Philipp Grubauer in goal when the Avalanche host the Arizona Coyotes on Monday.
Grubauer started 32 of the first 40 games for Colorado before getting the past two games off.
The Avalanche acquired goalie Devan Dubnyk in a trade with the San Jose Sharks on Saturday. Johansson, who has made 15 NHL starts, said he is not concerned with the competition:
"It's not really up to me with what's happening," he said. "What's up to me is what I do on the ice. I'll play if they tell me to play. I'll just do my part as best as I can, whatever that is. I'm just taking it day by day and doing my best."
