Colin Long scores the overtime winner as Kelowna beats Kootenay @NHLdotcom

KELOWNA, B.C. - Colin Long scored the game-winning goal, in overtime, as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the visiting Kootenay Ice 7-6 in WHL action on Friday night.

Kyle St. Denis, Jamie Benn, Evan Bloodoff, Matthew Brusciano, Tyler Myers and Lucas Bloodoff also scored for Kelowna (14-8-2-2), which led 3-1 and 4-3 at the period breaks before a wild third period. The two teams traded five goals in the final frame. Chad Greenan, Paul Kurceba, Andrew Bailey, with two goals, Steve DaSilva and Jordan Wilkins replied for Kootenay (14-10-3-0), who visit the Kamloops Blazers tonight.

Kris Westblom turned aside 30 shots for the Rockets.

Kris Lazaruk started for the Ice, but was pulled midway through the first period after surrendering three goals on 10 shots. Rookie backup Thomas Heemskerk of Chilliwack was 17 for 21 in relief.
