Colin Jacobs' three points lead Seattle past Everett 4-3 @NHLdotcom

KENT, Wash. - The Seattle Thunderbirds scored three goals in less than two minutes in the second period to build a 4-0 lead before holding on for a 4-3 win over the Everett Silvertips in both teams' Western Hockey League season opener Friday.

Rookie centre Colin Jacobs scored his first WHL regular-season goal and added two assists for Seattle.

Brenden Silvester, Luke Lockhart and Prab Rai also scored for Seattle, which led 4-0 in the second period before Markus McRae answered for Everett.

The Silvertips' Byron Froese and Tyler Maxwell scored in the third period to make it 4-3.

Jacobs, who is from Coppell, Texas, scored two goals for the Thunderbirds in five playoff games as a 15-year-old last season.

Calvin Pickard picked up the win in net for Seattle, stopping 45 of 49 shots.
