Coetzee score SO winner as Rebels beat Hitmen @NHLdotcom

CALGARY - Willie Coetzee scored the shootout winner and also had a goal in regulation to lead the Red Deer Rebels to a 5-4 win over the Calgary Hitmen in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Brett Ferguson each had a goal and two assists for the Rebels (37-22-4), who extended their winning streak to three games. Andrej Kudrna and also scored, while Alex Petrovic chipped in with a pair of assists.

Joel Broda, Kris Foucault, Cody Beach and Matt MacKenzie scored for the Hitmen (44-17-3), whose winning streak ended at three games. Defenceman Michael Stone added a pair of assists.

Red Deer goalie Darcy Kuemper made 18 saves in regulation, two in overtime, and one more in the shootout to record the win. At the other end, Calgary goalie Martin Jones stopped 24 shots in a losing cause.
