SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Cody Eakin scored a hat trick in sparking the Swift Current Broncos to a 6-2 win over the visiting Saskatoon Blades on Friday in the Western Hockey League.
Eakin, who now has 12 goals on the season, collected a pair of short-handed goals in helping the Broncos win their eighth home game in nine starts this season.
The Broncos, who led by period scores of 3-0 and 5-0, also had goals from Justin Dowling, rookie Adam Lowry, and Mike Brown.
Saskatoon replied with third period goals from Gaelan Petterson and Charles Inglis.
Broncos netminder Morgan Clark improved his season record to 6-2-1 while turning aside 37 of 39 shots and not allowing a goal until the 7:32 mark of the final period.
Blades goaltender Adam Morrison yielded six goals on 40 shots.
Swift Current has now won eight of nine home games this season while improving to 8-5-1. The loss ended a six-game win streak for the Blades as Saskatoon's record falls to 8-3-2.
