Cloud's tiebreaking goal lifts Vancouver to 5-2 triumph over Everett

EVERETT, Wash. - Chris Cloud broke a tie midway through the third period as the Vancouver Giants went on to beat the Everett Silvertips 5-2 Saturday night in the Western Hockey League.

Mike Berube added an insurance goal and Spencer Machacek an empty netter as the Giants (2-0-0) rifled off three unanswered goals in the third period to cruise to victory. Jonathon Blum and Mike Wuchterl added second-period goals for Vancouver.

Kyle Beach and Brandon Campos scored for Everett (0-2-0).

Tyson Sexsmith made 24 saves for the Giants, while Leland Irving stopped 24 shots for the Silvertips.
