ERIE, Pa. - Michael Clarke had two goals and an assist as the Windsor Spitfires doubles the Erie Otters 4-2 on Saturday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Spitfires scored twice in the opening 12 minutes on their way to improving to 7-3-1.
The Otters lost their fourth straight to fall to 1-8-0 despite a strong effort from goaltender Chris Festarini, who made 45 saves.
Nick Czinder and Clarke combined to hand the Spitfires their early 2-0 lead. Czinder turned Clarke?s pass into his fourth goal of the season at the 4:12 mark. Then Czinder returned the favor, as Clarke scored his seventh goal with 7:53 left in the period.
Clarke extended Windsor?s lead to 3-0 at 10:38 of the second period, firing a wrist shot past Festarini off assists from Brendan McCann and Adam Bateman.
The Otters finally got on the scoreboard with 3:26 left in the period. Stephen Harper scored his first OHL goal on a rebound off Kris Grant?s point shot.
The Spitfires regained a three-goal lead on Brady Vail?s bad-angle goal 6:07 into the third. He slipped a wrist shot through Festarini?s pads.
The Spitfires finished with a 49-25 shot advantage in the game.
Otters rookie forward Sondre Olden sliced Erie???s deficit to 4-2 on an impressive end-to-end rush with 6:10 left.
