Christian Thomas scores early in third period as Generals beat Petes 3-1 @NHLdotcom

OSHAWA, Ont. - Christian Thomas scored the winning goal 24 seconds into the third period Sunday as the Oshawa Generals held on for a 3-1 win over the Peterborough Petes.

The goal came on a rebound of a Lucas Lessio shot and gave the Generals a 2-0 lead.

Nicklas Jensen and Scott Laughton also had goals for Oshawa (5-4-2). Captain Boone Jenner added two assists.

Andrew Yogan replied for the East Division-leading Petes (6-2-2).

Kevin Bailie made his first home start of the season for Oshawa, but lost his shutout bid when Yogan scored on a 2-on-1 in the third period. Bailie finished with 31 saves.

Laughton put the game away with an empty-net goal in the final minute, missing the first attempt before retrieving the puck behind the net and wrapping it in.

Jensen opened the scoring for the Generals, sliding a rebound past fallen Petes goalie Andrew D'Agostini, with 1:42 remaining in the first period.

D'Agostini was superb in net for Peterborough by making 40 saves.

There were no power-play goals in the game. Oshawa had five chances and Peterborough just two.
