Christian Fischer signed a two-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

"I'm thrilled and happy to be a part of this team for two more years, to continue what I've been through and what we started since I got drafted at age 18," Fischer told the Coyotes website. "I'm thrilled to be with the group we have here. It's probably the closest group of guys I've played with. It's a really, really tight group. So I'm thrilled to be back."
The 23-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, scored nine points (six goals, three assists) in 56 regular-season games last season. He also had one assist in nine postseason games for the Coyotes, who lost the best-of-7 Western Conference First Round in five games to the Colorado Avalanche.
"We are very pleased to sign Christian to a multiyear contract," Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong said. "Christian is a hardworking power forward who is strong along the boards. He will add size and toughness to our forward group."
Selected by the Coyotes in the second round (No. 32) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Fischer has scored 63 points (35 goals, 28 assists) in 213 regular-season games. He returned to Arizona three weeks ago to resume training for this season, which is targeted to begin Jan. 1, 2021.
"The better plan is to be more prepared rather than underprepared," he said. "I think we have 12-13 guys out here right now skating together and working out. So I think that's big.
"My skating is the big thing for me. That's when I feel my best, the most confident, is when I'm moving my feet and I can get a lot of space for myself. I've been doing a lot of work on the ice with my hands, passing and shooting. You can never be too good with that stuff. Obviously, those things are how you capitalize on possessions to score goals and create offense."
