PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Chris Terry scored twice and had a pair of assists as the Plymouth Whalers downed the Saginaw Spirit 5-2 in Sunday afternoon Ontario Hockey League action at the Compuware Arena.
Overage captain Andrew Fournier chipped in two goals and one assist, while Joe McCann added a goal and an assist. Plymouth connected for three first period power play markers to take control of the contest.
The win helped Plymouth (33-24-2-3) snap a three-game losing skid, and solidified their hold on the fifth spot in the OHL Western Conference standings. The Whalers moved two points ahead of Saginaw (31-24-5-2) and Guelph, losers Sunday afternoon in Brampton.
Sarnia trails Plymouth by three points, with the Sting hosting the CHL's top-ranked team, the Kitchener Rangers, later Sunday evening.
Whalers goalie Jeremy Smith earned the win making 36 saves.
The Spirit got second-period goals from Kyle Tront and Jack Combs, while goaltenders Ed Pasquale and Ryan Daniels stopped 30 shots.
