Chris Terry scores twice as Plymouth defeats Sault Ste. Marie 5-2

PLYMOUTH, Mi. - Chris Terry scored twice and added an assist as the Plymouth Whalers defeated the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 5-2 in Saturday night Ontario Hockey League action.

Andrew Fournier and Ryan Hayes each had a goal and assist, while Wes Cunningham added a single.

Goaltender Jeremy Smith turned aside 44 shots, including 20 in the first period when the Greyhounds peppered him with 20 chances. At one point, Sault Ste. Marie held a 16-1 edge on the shot clock before Terry and Hayes connected on the Whalers' next two shots, eleven seconds apart, in the first.

Smith's shutout bid was spoiled with 2:49 remaining when Matt Lyall scored on a power play. Dustin Jeffrey added a two-man advantage goal with 11.4 seconds left.

Plymouth (27-19-2-2) moved into fifth spot in the OHL's Western Conference, one point ahead of idle Sarnia.

Sault Ste. Marie (32-14-1-4) lost for the second straight game but maintained its four point lead over the Windsor Spitfires in the race for the OHL West Division crown.
