PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Chris Terry had three goals and one assist before adding a goal in the shootout as the Plymouth Whalers edged the London Knights 5-4 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.
Plymouth (13-7-1-0) held a two-goal lead midway through the third period before the Knights responded with a pair, including Jadran Beljo's game-tying marker with 9.1 seconds remaining in regulation and goaltender Steve Mason on the bench for an extra attacker, forcing the shootout.
Whalers goalie Jeremy Smith made 32 saves and turned back both London shootout efforts, while Plymouth put two of three shots past Mason, who ended the night stopping 22 shots.
Plymouth captain Andrew Fournier had a goal and two assists before adding the clinching shootout goal.
Akim Aliu paced London (13-8-0-1) with a pair of goals, while Tony Romano had a single. Former Whaler overager Sean O'Connor. acquired by the Knights Wednesday, had a pair of assists in his debut match against his former team.
