MOOSE JAW, Sask. - Adam Chorneyko scored three goals and added an assist Wednesday as the Saskatoon Blades cruised past a listless Moose Jaw Warriors team 7-3 in Western Hockey League action.
The Warriors (10-23-0-1) have dropped two straight, while the Blades (25-10-2-0) maintained their 10-point lead atop the WHL's East Division.
Chorneyko scoring 1:59 in and adding his second of the game halfway through the period. The Blades' Jyri Niemi made it 3-0 before Moose Jaw responded with a goal from Tomas Karpov.
Ryley Grantham cut into the lead in the second period before Burke Gallimore and Derek Hulak increased the Blades' lead to 5-2.
The third period saw plenty of late action, as Joel Broda fought Gallimore, and Travis Hamonic brought Moose Jaw to within two goals. But Chorneyko added his third of the game and Josh Nicholls scored into an empty net for Saskatoon to put the game out of reach.
With regular starting goaltender Jeff Bosch injured, Deven Dubyk got the call for the Warriors and made 27 saves on 33 shots. Saskatoon's Adam Morrison made 23 saves on 26 shots for the victory.
