Chicoutimi sinks Baie-Comeau 4-3; Richard Martel wins 223rd game as coach @NHLdotcom

Richard Martel is now the winningest coach in Chicoutimi Sagueneens history.

Antoine Roussel scored twice as Chicoutimi sank the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 4-3 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

It was Martel's 223rd victory, surpassing Gaston Drapeau as the most successful Sagueneens coach.

Martel began coaching Chicoutimi in 2003, while Drapeau coached the team from 1986-90 and again from 1993-95.

Other QMJHL teams that Martel has coached for include the St. Hyacinthe Lasers, Val-d'Or Foreurs and the Drakkar.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Moncton 3 Halifax 0; Montreal 6 Acadie-Bathurst 1; Shawinigan 4 Quebec 0; Victoriaville 6 Rimouski 3; and Drummondville 3 P.E.I. 1.

At Baie-Comeau, Que., Maximilien Chevrier and also scored for Chicoutimi (16-18-8).

Maxime Renaud, Philip Richer and Mike Villeneuve replied for the Drakkar (13-26-3).


Wildcats 3 Mooseheads 0

At Moncton, N.B., Nicola Riopel made 25 saves as the Wildcats shut out Halifax.

Scott Brannon, Alex Wall and Mark Barberio provided the offence for Moncton (28-11-4).

Mathieu Corbeil-Theriault stopped 29 shots for the Mooseheads (8-33-3).


Junior 6 Titan 1

At Bathurst, N.B., Chris Thorne scored twice as Montreal dropped the Titan.

Loik Poudrier, Jeremy Gouchie, Nicolas Chouinard and Guillaume Asselin also scored for the Junior (21-19-3).

Bryce Milson was the lone scorer for Acadie-Bathurst (15-24-5).


Cataractes 4 Remparts 0

At Shawinigan, Que., Gabriel Girard stopped 28 shots as the Cataractes blanked Quebec.

Michael Bournival scored twice and added an assist for Shawinigan (20-17-6), while Philippe Paradis and Raphael Pouliot added singles.

Antoine Tardif made 24 saves on 28 shots for the Remparts (26-12-6) before giving way to Louis Domingue.


Tigres 6 Oceanic 3

At Victoriaville, Que., Joel Champagne had a goal and two assists as the Tigres doubled Rimouski.

Andrej Nestrasil and Samuel Groulx both scored and added an assist for Victoriaville (29-13-2), while Travis McIsaac, Yannick Dube and Joel Chouinard also scored.

Etienne Boutet, Jakub Culek and Alexandre Mallet found the net for the Oceanic (23-14-6).


Voltigeurs 3 Rocket 1

At Drummondville, Que., Gabriel Dumont has the eventual winner as the Voltigeurs topped P.E.I.

Philippe Lefebvre and Alexandre Comtois also scored for Drummondville (31-12-2).

Samson Mahbod replied for the Rocket (23-18-4).
