Kane, DeBrincat, Hagel each score, Fleury saves 31/32

WINNIPEG --Marc-Andre Fleury made 31 saves for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 3-1 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre on Monday.

"This is what [Fleury] does, he keeps you involved in the game, he keeps you in the game," Blackhawks coach Derek King said. "He gives you an opportunity to win a hockey game, and we happened to put a good, solid effort in front of him, and this is the outcome."
Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist, and Alex DeBrincat scored the tiebreaking goal in the third period for Chicago (18-24-7), which went 2-1-0 on a three-game road trip. Kirby Dach had two assists.
"Getting four out of six points on the road is not bad," DeBrincat said. "Going home I think we can capitalize on the (six-game) homestand and hopefully get a lot more wins."

Mark Scheifele scored for the fourth straight game for Winnipeg (20-18-8), which had its three-game point streak end. Connor Hellebuyck made 21 saves.
"I thought [Fleury] made a couple of big saves, especially in the third period, but I think that we as a team needed to do a better job of getting to him," Jets defenseman Nate Schmidt said. "Our 'D,' we shot pucks, but we didn't really have the guys in front and we're just making easy saves for him. When he gets into a groove, he's a guy that can really steal the flow of the game."
Scheifele tied it 1-1 at 6:17 of the third period, knocking in the puck at the left post after Schmidt's initial attempt deflected off Connor Murphy and fluttered over Fleury.
"We generated some opportunities, but we didn't have anybody in [Fleury's] eyes," Jets coach Dave Lowry said. "We did a really good job in the third. In the third period, we got on the body, we got traffic and we got some opportunities."

DeBrincat gave the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead at 9:42. He picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone, skated into the offensive zone, and beat Hellebuyck blocker side from the high slot.
"I think their 'D' were far back in their zone and I had a lot of space," DeBrincat said. "So they had to gap up, and I felt like I had the lane to shoot. I guess I put it where I wanted it. I was lucky it went in."
Brandon Hagel shot into an empty net at 19:04 for the 3-1 final.
Kane made it 1-0 at 10:21 of the second period, skating in on a 3-on-2 rush before shooting five-hole from the left circle.
"It's funny, we said it after (the game), you compete, you play with a little structure and you execute," King said. "That was a solid road win for us. The guys rebounded and played great."
