CHI@TBL: Vasilevskiy makes toe save on Kurashev

TAMPA -- Andrei Vasilevskiy made 35 saves for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Amalie Arena on Friday.

The line of Blake Coleman, Yanni Gourde and Barclay Goodrow combined for six points (two goals, four assists) for the Lightning (2-0-0), who defeated the Blackhawks 5-1 on Wednesday. Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist.
"We're building, today was a much better game from us," Coleman said. "For me, it's just that you can depend on those guys. They're going to be ahead on the forecheck with you. They want to make plays, but they want to be smart. We want to be responsible, but we don't want to settle."
Patrick Kane scored, and Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks (0-2-0). Collin Delia made 32 saves.
"I thought overall it was a better performance," Chicago coach Jeremy Colliton said. "I really liked our first period. The second period we started turning the puck over, basically self-inflicted wounds allowed them to go up 3-0. All three were basically off turnovers. To our credit we pushed back, got back into the game, and that was a really good sign."

Ondrej Palat gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead at 2:25 of the second period after Delia turned over the puck behind the net to Stamkos, who passed to Palat for a one-timer into an open net.
"I thought (defenseman) Duncan [Keith] was going to pick it up and curl, then I didn't see him," Delia said. "So I definitely didn't make the right play. I didn't make a good, hard pass, and that's what happens when you make mistakes like that in your own zone. It ends up in the back of the net."
Alex Killorn pushed the lead to 2-0 at 4:43 when he beat Delia glove side with a wrist shot from the high slot.
Coleman made it 3-0 at 8:11 with a backhand during a scramble for a rebound in the crease. Colliton challenged the play for goaltender interference, but the call stood after a video review.
"It was a good play for [Gourde] and [Goodrow], obviously threw it in front of the net," Coleman said. "Just get to the blue paint, you know? It's going to be ugly sometimes and there's nothing wrong with that. It's a good thing when you can get to the blue paint and whack away. Fortunately it went in and the challenge held up."
DeBrincat scored a power-play goal with a one-timer to make it 3-1 at 14:20 of the second period, and Kane cut it to 3-2 at 16:11 of the second with his first goal of the season on a backhand from the slot.
"Yeah, it's always nice when you can move the puck around, get a good shot and put one in," DeBrincat said. "We still have to work on it. Down 3-2 we had a few power plays and we didn't convert. We still have to be better."

Lightning forward Tyler Johnson said, "I think in the second period we got a little bit too cute once we got up and that allowed them to get some momentum to come back. We've got to shore that up, but overall it was a good game. We just have a lot to build on."
Gourde pushed the lead to 4-2 at 13:32 of the third period before Stamkos made it 5-2 with a shot glove side during a rush at 17:38.
"It was the second game of the year," Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. "Camp started 12 days ago, I think. Chicago played inspired today. They were as expected. Teams are going to get better and play better. We had our moments. I thought a lot of the second period we played well. We killed five and a half minutes of penalties in the third period."
