Hossa painting

Who knew so many Chicago Blackhawks had an artistic side?

Forwards Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Artemi Panarin, Marcus Kruger, Nick Schmaltz and Marian Hossa, defensemen Brian Campbell and Niklas Hjalmarsson, and goaltenders Corey Crawford and Scott Darling created holiday-themed acrylic paintings that were turned into greeting cards. Proceeds from sales of the 10-pack of cards will benefit Chicago Blackhawks Charities.

Toews drew inspiration from Bob Ross, the curly-haired former television painter and art instructor, while creating a picture of a reindeer in a snow-covered meadow (and are those some happy trees in the background?). Hossa found painting a snowman next to a Christmas tree more difficult than it looked, and everyone seemed impressed with Crawford's ability to paint the intricacies of wood.

For an extra holiday treat, the Blackhawks have inserted 200 autographed cards in random packs. And as for the original works of art, the canvases will be auctioned off on the Blackhawks' website from Sunday, Dec. 4 through Monday, Dec. 19 to benefit Chicago Blackhawks Charities.
The card packs are available for purchase in
Blackhawks team stores or by phone.
