Jones records 1st career multi-point game in win

OTTAWA-- Patrick Kane became the second-leading scorer in Chicago Blackhawks history with three assists in a 6-3 win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday.

"You kind of just realize how crazy that really is," Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews said. "How long [he] has been doing what he's been doing, and the heights he's reached at this point in his career. And we all know that he's not done yet."
Kane has scored 1,156 points in 15 seasons to pass Bobby Hull (1,153) in Chicago history, behind Stan Mikita (1,467). The forward has scored 15 points (three goals, 12 assists) during a six-game point streak.
"This is what Patrick does, right?" Blackhawks coach Derek King said. "Hopefully I'm around to see some more milestones."

CHI@OTT: Toews ties it up with 2 goals in 1:41

Toews and Caleb Jones each scored twice, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves for the Blackhawks (22-30-8).
Anton Forsberg made 22 saves for the Senators (21-32-5).
"Forsberg's been unreal, and he's saved us plenty of games and he's been sharp. That's not on him," Ottawa coach D.J. Smith said. "We gave up way too many Grade A chances."
Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy was
taken off the ice on a stretcher
2:40 into the first period after being hit from behind by Senators forward Parker Kelly.
"It's hard not to be rattled," Toews said. "For a second, your focus is taken away from the game and it's kind of hard to regroup and care about the game when your thoughts are with your teammate and you really don't know if he's OK."
Kelly received a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct.
"I think whenever someone does end up on the ice like that, there's definitely responsibility on the guy who throws our guy into the boards," Toews said. "I don't know. I think we're at the point in the league where there's that respect level and the understanding that you don't want to be in a situation like that. You want to play physical, you want to hit hard, but if there's potential for something like that to happen, you've got to be smarter about it."
Following a seven-minute delay, Connor Brown gave the Senators a 1-0 lead 38 seconds after play resumed, shooting on a shorthanded 2-on-1 to score at 3:18. Thomas Chabot made it 2-0 at 14:07 with a slap shot into the top right corner from the top of the slot.

Toews got Chicago within 2-1 58 seconds into the second period off a cross-slot pass from Kane.
"We knew playing this team that a guy like Kane, he can make anything happen at any time," Chabot said. "I think once we lost our momentum after the first, it was hard to catch him and he caught some rhythm and he started making plays and they scored a few."
Toews scored on the power play to tie it 2-2 at 2:39, and Jones gave Chicago a 3-2 lead at 9:07 when he scored short side with a wrist shot from the left face-off dot. Seth Jones had an assist, and they became the first set of brothers to combine on a Blackhawks goal since Rich Sutter and Brent Sutter on Feb. 14, 1994.
"I think we just needed to get our feet under us after the first," Caleb Jones said. "We just came back in the second and said, 'You know what, let's win this one for 'Murph'."
Nicholas Paul tied it 3-3 at 15:41 when he beat Caleb Jones on a 1-on-1 and scored with a wrist shot. Eight seconds later, Sam Lafferty gave Chicago a 4-3 lead when he scored with a wrist shot from the middle of the slot.
"That second period was probably our worst period in a month," Smith said. "In a way, they just grinded us and we had no answer for Kane."
Caleb Jones scored his second to make it 5-3 at 8:55 of the third period, and Dylan Strome pushed it to 6-3 at 10:04 when he tipped Seth Jones' point shot.
NOTES: Murphy, who sustained an upper-body injury, was not taken to a hospital and was to return to Chicago with the team. "That's good news," King said. ... Kane has scored 423 goals with 733 assists in 1,085 NHL games. ... Chicago forward Tyler Johnson was placed in NHL concussion protocol after being hit in the head by the puck on a dump-in. Johnson also was to travel back with the team, King said. He returned to play March 3 after having artificial disk replacement surgery on Dec. 3. He had not played since Oct. 29.
