Tanner Kero agrees to contract with Blackhawks

Forward gets two years, would have become restricted free agent July 1

Forward Tanner Kero agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday. 

Kero, 24, was in the final season of a two-year, $1.85 million entry-level contract worth an average annual value of $925,000, according to CapFriendly.com. He would have become a restricted free agent July 1. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed and it runs through the 2018-19 season.

Kero has 12 points (five goals, seven assists) and is plus-12 in 38 games this season, and 15 points (six goals, nine assists) in 55 games the past two seasons with the Blackhawks. He signed with Chicago as a free agent on April 2, 2015.
