CHI@DAL: DeBrincat nets give-and-go overtime winner

Alex DeBrincat scored his second goal of the game 2:56 into overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 2-1 win against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center on Sunday.

Patrick Kane sent a pass to the slot for DeBrincat, who lifted it over goalie Jake Oettinger's glove.
"We've struggled in overtime and shootouts in the past few games (lost previous four this season)," DeBrincat said. "It's definitely nice to get that first one under us, and we can go from there."
Kane had two assists, and Malcolm Subban made 30 saves for Chicago (5-4-4), which has won two straight and is 5-1-3 in its past nine games.
"It's great, it's great for everyone," Subban said of his first win with the Blackhawks. "I didn't have too much to do out there. They kept a lot of stuff to the outside. To be honest, I feel like I got kind of lucky there a couple times."

CHI@DAL: DeBrincat opens scoring with PPG down low

Jason Robertson
scored his first NHL goal for the Stars (5-2-2), who are 1-2-2 since starting 4-0-0. Oettinger made 33 saves in place of Anton Khudobin, who was scratched due to team discipline.
"The guys did a really good job in front of me, limited their chances," Oettinger said. "Obviously, they have some firepower, they're very offensive. … You never know when you're going to get the call, so just happy to get the start and I just have to be ready at all times."
Dallas captain Jamie Benn said of Khudobin's absence, "We keep that inside the dressing room. Coach dealt with it, and we're moving on."
The Blackhawks and Stars will complete a two-game set in Dallas on Tuesday.
"We left a point on the board today, in my opinion, and we've got to get it back on Tuesday night," Stars coach Rick Bowness said.
DeBrincat, who had a goal waved off in the first period because of a high stick, gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead at 12:29 of the second period, shooting into an open net on the power play after receiving a backdoor pass from Dylan Strome.
"We had a really good start, first 10 minutes or so we were buzzing," Blackhawks coach Jeremy Colliton said. "A lot of energy and speed in the offensive zone. The game kind of settled down after that and it was a grind, but [our] power play came through for us. I thought the penalty kill (3-for-3) was really good."

CHI@DAL: Robertson scores after puck carom in front

Miro Heiskanen almost tied it at 18:10 of the second. His wrist shot from the slot hit the crossbar and bounced off the back of Subban before Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy cleared the puck out of the crease with his right glove.
Subban then kept Chicago in front with a left-toe save against Denis Gurianov 1:33 into the third period, but Robertson tied it 1-1 at 9:31 when Heiskanen's shot from the point bounced out of Subban's glove and off Robertson's right hip into the net.
"It was a weird bounce," Robertson said. "I just went hard to the net and I knew I felt something off my pants. Originally, I thought I heard [Murphy] kind of gasp. I thought I hit his goalie, but the puck ended up going in."
NOTES:Stars forward Alexander Radulov did not play because of a lower-body injury. … DeBrincat (four goals, five assists) and Kane (three goals, seven assists) each extended his point streak to five games. … The Blackhawks are 10-for-10 on the penalty kill in their past four games. ... Subban is 1-1-1 since being acquired in a trade from the Vegas Golden Knights on Feb. 24, 2020.
